Long Clawson Dairy is one of Britain’s oldest and most respected cheese producers, renowned for its award-winning Stilton and artisan ranges. When the company approached Twilo Creative through an existing client referral, their existing website no longer reflected who they were. A modern, forward-thinking website with a nod to their proud farming heritage was required, and the biggest challenge was delivering an online experience that appeals to a much wider audience.

Reimagining a heritage brand online

Long Clawson’s previous website felt dated and failed to connect with younger buyers who were fuelling the rise in artisan cheese. Our approach focused on creating a modern, interactive website that retained the warmth and heritage of the brand while speaking directly to a broader audience. Carefully chosen animations, parallax elements, and video content brought the site to life without overcomplicating it.

The result is a digital experience that celebrates tradition in a contemporary way. Whether visitors are long-time fans or discovering the brand for the first time, they’re greeted with a site that’s rich in storytelling, easy to explore, and beautifully representative of British craft at its best.

Today’s customers care deeply about where their food comes from. To highlight Long Clawson Dairy’s commitment to sustainability and quality, we introduced a section dedicated to the farms that supply their milk. Each farm profile shares the people and practices behind the produce, helping to build trust and transparency.

This authentic, people-first approach helped the brand strengthen its connection between farmers and consumers, and stand out in a competitive, authenticity-driven market.

Building engagement through content and creativity

Under the Long Clawson Dairy umbrella are several well-loved consumer brands, each with its own character and flavour profile. The new “Our Brands” section gives these products the spotlight they deserve, showing visitors the full range of cheeses available and where to buy them.

To further increase engagement, we introduced a recipe library designed to inspire both home cooks and professional chefs. Smart filters allow visitors to browse by meal type, cheese, or difficulty, providing real value while reinforcing product awareness. This combination of practical and visual content gives the site longevity and keeps users returning time and again.

Introducing e-commerce for a heritage producer

After the main website launched, Long Clawson Dairy commissioned Twilo to integrate a full e-commerce platform. The challenge was to add online retail functionality to a content-managed website, without compromising design or performance. Our solution was a completely bespoke build tailored to the needs of both the customer and fulfilment partner.

Orders are automatically sent to the fulfilment provider, while customers receive real-time updates through integration with Royal Mail’s API. The e-commerce system includes SEO tools, product-level metadata, and flexible content options to support seasonal promotions and future expansion.

A portal built for farmers, by listening to farmers

Our partnership with Long Clawson Dairy extended beyond their public-facing website. We developed a secure supplier portal to help Clawson manage relationships with their network of farms more effectively. Built in Laravel and React, this custom platform allows farmers to communicate milk forecasts, manage invoices, and receive updates directly from Clawson.

Ease of use was critical. Many of the farmers had never used digital tools like this before, so we designed a simple interface with tooltips, clear labelling, and simple navigation. This ensured the new platform was adopted without causing frustration.

Innovation through continuous improvement

To encourage collaboration and refinement, we built a unique “guinea pig mode” that allows advanced users to test new features before they’re rolled out to everyone. This feedback loop keeps the portal evolving, ensuring it always meets the practical needs of both Clawson’s internal team and its farming community.

The portal has become an essential part of how Clawson operates, saving time, improving communication, and strengthening relationships across the supply chain. All while supporting the brand’s long-term commitment to transparency and sustainability.
